The Loch Ness Monster inhabits the Scottish Highland lake called Loch Ness. Sightings date back the the mid-6th century, though worldwide attention was not gained until 1933. The creature was described as having a long neck with one or more humps protruding from the water. Nessie is believed to be a misidentified creature, or a new species of amphibian/reptile or warm-blooded plesiosaur.
