Wildman of Enon

Names: Southern Ohio Wildman, Long-Haired Wildman

Habitat: Ohio woodlands; generally southeastern

Size: under 6 ft tall; about 200 lbs

Diet: omnivorous; predominantly small game, vegetation, and fungi

Reproduction: monogamous; couples remain together to rear offspring

Society: family units, generally 5 individuals

Lifespan: up to 50 years

Like most wildmen, the Wildmen of Enon have long, thin arms and are prone to rock-throwing, tree climbing, and canopy travel. Feeling secure in larger, sturdier woods, they sleep, eat, and watch from high branches. Not agile on the ground, wildmen spend as little time as possible below. At risk of being attacked, they forage only during the day, collecting and holding food in one arm; unable to carry anymore, they leap high into the air, grabbing onto a branch and pulling themselves into the canopy.

Wildmen of Enon do not hunt often, preferring to scavenge from abandoned kills—or opportunistically steal others’ wounded, escaped, or unwatched prey. Peering from above after dark, if an easy target passes by, they may pummel it with large rocks, beat it with chunks of wood, or leap down onto it. Fresh carrion and kills are kept with them in the branches; meat is discarded far away before it sours.
